Actors of Olympia In Obscura

Like most actors, Jason's passion for the dramatic arts began at an early age, performing skits for family and friends. High School and College days found him committed to community theatre in both Pacific and Grays Harbor Counties. Jason found his first film role as a fisherman in the 2013 film Ghost Forest (which gave him his 3 degrees of Kevin Bacon) and has also made a few appearances in local (Grays Harbor/Thurston Co) shorts and a feature. Olympia in Obscura is Jason's first starring role and he has taken full advantage of the opportunity. "Words can't express how amazing this journey has been. Northwest Film Asylum has been a professional and invigorating bunch to work with. Olympia, I hope you're ready. Colin Banks is one the scene!" Mariah Smith doesn't really like piña coladas, but she loves getting caught in the rain. A graduate of The Evergreen State College, Mariah's previous acting experiences come from the stage, in campus productions such as The Altruists, The Vagina Monologues, and Perfect. This is her first foray into film, and she couldn't have asked for a better introduction. Of Olympia In Obscura, she says, "The cast and crew have been incredible. I was and still am fairly inexperienced and they have been so patient and helped me get my footing. I can't wait for Season 2 and more adventures with Colin Banks and the Northwest Film Asylum!"

I have to say it was amazing to step into Sarah Lee Hicks and bring her to life. The cast and crew are all incredible people to work with. It has been a blessed couple of years building my film resume, and have had the distinct privilege to work with so many amazing talents. Some of my other credits include Casandra's Castle (Ian Wilson), Waiting for Exit (Adam Prufrock), Lifeboat 715 (Calvin Lorne), and Night of the Living Bread (Randy). Looking forward to what the future has to offer!

Bobby Brown came late to the acting game after 20 years in the Army. He’s been in productions with Olympia Little Theater, Olympia Family Theater, and Theater Artists Olympia as well as a production of “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” in Tacoma, WA. This is some of his first work in film versus live theater. Lately, he has taken a break from acting and been performing as Bananas Foster in Lord Franzannian’s Vaudeville Show in Olympia, WA, and with Rock Candy Burlesque in Olympia as well as any other road gigs he can book when he finds the time. His burlesque persona was also on stage with the 2nd annual Oregon Burlesque Festival. Bobby lives with his wife, adult son, toddler daughter, two pugs, two cats and three chickens.

Kansas native, Roger Cummings moved to Olympia in 1975, While in college he spent his summers in stock theater at Vassar Playhouse, Vassar, Kansas 1970-72. He appeared in Olympia’s Harlequin Productions inaugural season playing Tom and Tom Jr. in Craig Lucas’ “RECKLESS” and the part of Ed in Olympia Live Arts Network/Palmerlee Productions 1990 production of “TORCH SONG TRILOGY”, He is now retired from State of Washington employment, and remains a skilled studio painter, his college study. Olympia in Obscura is his first experience working in film. Actor and self-taught cook, he is seen on screen as OPD Det Millius. He also provided craft services and general assist to the production.

Mike's foray into acting began while still a child. While being prepared for public speaking, Mike acted in several skits. Mike said that he had no real acting classes or skills, but the needed skills are there as Mike calls himself a chameleon, and loves to try to blend in where ever he may be. The consummate observer Mike is a good mimic/mime. While studying American Sign Language Mike discovered a better way to communicate and observe actual body language cues. Mike has gained a penchant for voice characterizations. Mike loves and plays music and shows evidence of being a freakish DJ type. Mike throws himself into everything he does, and in his own words, says, "working with the folks at Northwest Film Asylum has opened avenues I've never considered before." More to be revealed.

Dave has been fascinated by film making since he was a boy but it seemed to remain only a distant dream until the DSLR age came about. In 2011, he bought a Canon T4i and began his daily self-education in film making. Dave has been creating 2D and 3D art for games and film as well as Visual Effects and Compositing projects for nearly 2 decades. Entering into film making was a relatively smooth process and he continues to learn the craft and art each day. Working with the other members of Northwest Film Asylum is a dream come true and Dave plans to make movies for the rest of his life. Follow Dave on Twitter: @DaveNGoodman

First Camera/Assistant Director of Photography
Connor’s interest in filmmaking began at an early age when he would insist upon watching every behind the scenes featurette he could find. Once he operated the camera with a crew of other kids at a summer filmmaking camp, Connor knew then and there that this was his calling. In the following years and throughout high school, Connor shot various short videos with his friends for fun. In 2014, Connor studied basic cinematography and nonfiction media at The Evergreen State College. He spent his final year at Evergreen focusing entirely upon the art of cinematography in a student originated study in 2015 (alongside friend and fellow student Misty Berlin). Olympia in Obscura is Connor’s first real-world experience with a production crew. He will always be grateful for the opportunity to grow and develop his skill set as a beginner straight out of college.
